Rev. Julie Blum, Pastor
Pastor Julie has been an ordained Lutheran pastor for over 25 years. Prior to coming to Maple Leaf Lutheran, she served as pastor in Boise, Idaho, interned in Bellingham, Wash., attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., college at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, and was born and raised in Kennewick, Wash. In her free time, she geocaches with her daughter, works in her yard while listening to audio books & enjoys craft cocktails with friends.
Terry Vogel, Community Partnerships Director
Terry is the Community Partnership Director for Meadowbrook Community Care, which is the companion non-profit organization of Maple Leaf Lutheran Church. He moved from Chicago to Seattle in 1973 and is a PLU graduate. Married with two daughters, he enjoys gardening and sports and is a life-long Seattle Sounders fan.
Dan Mahraun, Office Administrator
Dan joined our staff in the spring of 2022. In his “other life,” he is a professional musician serving as Artistic Director of the Seattle Bach Choir and working as a freelance singer in the area. He is married to Rev. Leslie Mahraun, chaplain at the Hearthstone at Green Lake. Most workdays, Dan is accompanied by their corgi-border collie Walter, our “office dog.”
Beiwen Liu, Organist/Pianist
Beiwen joined the Maple Leaf Lutheran Team as our musician (piano & organ) in early 2018. Originally from Georgia, Beiwen moved to Seattle to pursue a Software Engineering job at Amazon while earning a master’s degree in computer science through Georgia Tech. Beiwen is a bit of a Renaissance man with a wide range of interests from cars and real estate to fitness and software development. Here at Maple Leaf, he adds beautiful music to worship, weddings, funerals and all sorts of special events.
Ellie Kok, Choir Director
Ellie is from Spokane, Wash., but moved to the Seattle area with her husband in 2014. She loves singing, crafting, animals (especially her dog and cat), and spending time with her daughter. Ellie loves working with her students as a middle school choir teacher.
